Intergas is a Condensate PRO distributor
Intergas has one the lowest boiler failure rates in the industry, but this reliability is compromised when external condensate pipework freezes. Often installers have no alternative but to discharge the condensate to an outside gulley or drain but, when homes experience prolonged periods of freezing temperatures, as they did in 2018, even regulation class o pipe lagging is unable to prevent the condensate from freezing. Thanks to the ingenuity of installer Dave Smith and his invention, Condensate PRO, frozen condensate pipes could be a thing of the past. Condensate PRO is an inexpensive, practical and easy-to-fit insulation kit that provides maximum protection against frozen condensate pipework. Intergas has been so impressed with its efficacy, it has become an official distributor of the product.
According to a recent poll of installers, 60% of them don’t insulate the external pipework and Smith believes this is because the industry guidance flawed: “Insulating the pipework is not easily done, can be quite intrusive to the fabric of the building, is hard to cost and explain to the homeowner and adds a significant amount of time to the overall installation. Condensate PRO overcomes all these issues.”
Condensate PRO fits any condensate pipe installation with specially designed UV/water resistant lagging and bond and seal adhesive. It fits onto 32mm or 21.5mm overflow pipes and the connection and terminations are pre-insulated to make life easier when fitting. The products offer a complete solution for every external termination – gully waste, soakaways, rainwater and soil pipes – making it easy to price the cost of installation. The Condensate PRO drift kit and grinder head help achieve a clean, faultless fitting on existing installations and uneven masonry. It is also ideal for installers upgrading existing condensate pipes. A 76mm grinder head is also available, designed to grind a three-inch flat face against irregular faced stonework, creating a perfect surface for the connection kit. Apart from its powerful insulation properties, Condensate PRO also looks smart when fitted.
When the Beast from the East hit two years ago, installers and boiler manufacturers alike received a bad press when homes were left without heating and hot water due to frozen condensate pipes. Condensate PRO will not only help installers protect customers’ boilers, but the reputation of the industry too.
Speaking about Condensate PRO, John Lawton, Intergas Technical Product Manager, said: “This is a totally new concept for insulating the external section of the boiler condensate pipework and, in our opinion, it’s a game-changer. All our own engineers are already carrying stock on their vans to offer customers a very timely upgrade.”
Condensate PRO is available in convenient kits:
- Connection kit – this is always required.
- Termination kit – this is required if you are connecting into a soil pipe.
- Drift kit – required to facilitate adapting the old overflow pipe to Condensate PRO (one-off purchase to add to your own core drill set).
- Condensate insulation – extra lengths of insulation only required when extending the pipework beyond the starter kit.
