Fuel poverty in a first world country? In the UK? Yes and it’s iniquitous, wrong, ridiculous, but that doesn’t mean we can’t do something about it. At a press trip to the Intergas head office in the Netherlands this week, we all had the privilege of listening to Maria Wardrobe, Director of Marketing and Communications at the NEA, where she illustrated in quite stark terms, what some families face every day. Fuel poverty is indiscriminate, affecting the young, the old, the infirm and those in full time employment. No one should have to take the decision on whether to eat or heat today.
